David L. Johanson CFP®, CIMA®, CPWA®, EA
Dave Johanson, born in San Mateo and raised in San Jose, is a 8th generation Californian. He is one of six children reared in a middle class family. He was raised with conservative values and learned the importance of hard work, appreciating what you have, and helping those that stand in need.
Dave’s education includes a Bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco with a degree in Applied Economics. He completed graduate work at Santa Clara University as well as extended studies through The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Certified Financial Planner® (CFP), a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA), a Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA), and an Enrolled Agent (EA). Of over 300,000 financial advisors in the U.S., less than 0.5% holds all of these designations.
Dave has been a Financial Advisor since 1984 and is the Founder and President of Johanson Financial Advisors, Inc (JFA). Before JFA, Dave managed the Investment Division, Marketing One, for Bank of the West. Then he was President of Affirmed Financial Management, Inc. for 12 years and CEO of Wealth Design Private Advisors, Inc. for 8 years.
Dave has held various leadership roles throughout his career. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association, Investment Management Consultants Association, and the Financial Planning Association of Silicon Valley. He has been on television, spoken at several National Conferences and has sat on the National President’s Council to Multi-Financial Securities. He has also attended Barron’s Winner’s Circle for the Nation’s Top 1% of Advisors in the Country.
Dave is on the Board of Directors for Services for Brain Injury (sbicares.org). This non-profit organization provides comprehensive cognitive rehabilitation programs for people with traumatic or acquired brain injuries due to injury or illness.
Dave and his wife, Jennifer, have four children and eleven grandchildren. He enjoys traveling, golf, racquetball, working out, serving at church, and simply spending time with his family.
